Bandung City Wayfinding | KUDOS Design Collaboratory™

We’ve been working with Mayor Ridwan Kamil’s vigorous efforts to redefine the city of Bandung, Indonesia, as a humane and creative city.

WAYFINDING SIGNAGE
The first of the city’s new wayfinding signage was officially announced in December 2015, followed by others across town. We designed a signage system that consists of a vibrant blue totem pole sandwiched by neutral-colored maps on both sides. This tourist-friendly signage helps orient pedestrians and drivers alike.

CROSSWALK GRAPHICS
We created fun crosswalk graphics to increase awareness of designated crossing zones. Oversized graphics of traditional games like Ular Tangga (Snakes and Ladders) and Engklek (Hopscotch), as well as patterns made out of bamboo musical instruments like Angklung and Suling (bamboo ring flute), are printed on the road to slow down traffic and increase pedestrian safety. E-TRANSPORT CARD
Kudos were tasked to design unique e-transport cards that can be used for public buses, bicycle or to pay parking fee. The card design draws attention from the rich history of Bandung City, meanwhile each of the cards have distinctive graphics to identify their specific function. The overall looks of the cards enhanced the government’s great initiative for Bandung as a smart city.
