The Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), established in 1894, is the second-largest of the Institute’s five chapters in the New York City region.
In partnership with the AIA, we produced PYLON, an avant-garde magazine spotlighting AIA members, noteworthy projects, and member activities in Brooklyn. Our design took cues from the vibrancy of the borough’s design community. The complete Pylon archive is now viewable on AIA Brooklyn’s website.

DataHaven’s Community Wellbeing Index is a report focusing on wellbeing, equity, and quality of life in Greater New Haven, Fairfield County, and Greater Hartford, Connecticut.
For this project, we were tasked with the design of variant cover concepts and interior layouts for three reports presenting the latest data around these three topics for New Haven. Designed elements including cover design, layout, pagination, visualizations (tables, maps, icons, and infographics), and print mechanicals, as well as distinct color palettes for the visual identities of the three reports.

Visibility matters—and the desire to see ourselves represented without censorship is what keeps our language and lineage clear, pure, and authentic. This unselfconscious attitude is the unifying attribute shared by all of the artists, personalities, and performers represented in Frock, a magazine launched by photographer and publisher Eli Schmidt in 2019 as a source for queer photo stories, interviews, performance, and erotic films.
Our publication design drew upon the language of artist journals, homoerotic photography, and independent zine culture to create a platform for celebrating authentic queer joy. We worked closely with Schmidt to experiment with pairings of typography and photography that embody uninhibited concepts and emotions—the kink in the straight line.

The Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech is a place for dynamic experimentation, where the boundaries of academia are expanded to integrate technology, business, law, and design in service of economic impact and greater societal good.
We were tasked with designing a keepsake book and construction-fence display for the inauguration of the Institute’s campus in September 2017. The book’s cover features a T-shaped die cut revealing details of the Bloomberg Center, one of the campus’s architecture highlights. A gatefold map of Roosevelt Island highlights future plans for the campus’s development. For the campus opening, we designed a 632-foot fence covering an ongoing construction site, with materials identifying the architect behind the building under construction.

Pen+Brush: Domesticity Revisited

“Domesticity Revisited” was an exhibition at Pen+Brush Gallery, showcasing four women artists who explored the theme of “home.”
Tasked with creating the exhibition’s catalogue, we created a typographic pattern reminiscent of wallpaper, with which we covered the book as a blind embossing. The color red, a recurring element in the featured artists’ work, is used throughout.

Yasumasa Morimura: Ego Obscura Catalogue
Japan Society
For this solo exhibition at the Japan Society in New York, Ego Obscura highlighted Morimura’s 30-year project of de-centering “the self” by excavating it from layers of art history, Japanese postwar history, and personal history. It also featured the U.S. premiere of the artist’s first full-length video work, Egó Sympósion (2016), and his latest cinematic installation, Egó Obscura (2018), presented in conjunction with a live performance, Morimura’s Nippon Cha Cha Cha!
We designed the show’s exhibit catalogue to feature Morimura’s latest work, Une Moderne Olympia (2018), on the front cover, contrasted with Portrait (Futago) (1988)—the artist’s work from 30 years prior, with different gender and race portrayals—on the back cover. The slim format of the book made for greater readability of its essays and performance scripts.

DataHaven is a nonprofit that collects, interprets, and shares public data to inspire effective decision-making, improving the quality of life in local communities.
For this data-visualization and publication-design project, we designed a series of three DataHaven reports for Fairfield County, Greater Hartford, and Greater New Haven, Connecticut. We developed variant cover concepts and interior layouts for the three reports, along with data visualizations on almost every page interpreting data produced for more than 100 partners throughout Connecticut and its neighboring states.

GDUSA 2018 American Graphic Design Awards
Produced in close collaboration with the Center for Active Design, “Assembly: Civic Design Guidelines” is a groundbreaking playbook for creating well-designed and well-maintained public spaces. The guidelines encapsulate four years of research—involving over 200 studies, 50 cities, and dozens of experts—highlighting the role of public spaces as a force for building trust and healing divisions in local communities.
We designed the published guidelines to incorporate vibrant colors and simple hand-drawn illustrations to help explain the significance of these research findings in simple terms, along with practical methods that policymakers can adopt to bring about great public spaces for all.

To help the Brooklyn Chapter celebrate its 125th anniversary, we designed a campaign that visually centers the Roman numeral representation of 125—CXXV, or the quasquicentennial—as supergraphics on all of the Chapter’s platform materials, from website to gala booklets, umbrellas, and T-shirts.

The Action to Catalyze Tech (ACT) Report is an ever-evolving repository for accountability and engagement in the tech industry, created in response to an industry-wide call to action to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in the sector.
KUDOS created a comprehensive PDF report hosted on a responsive website that features ever-expanding video archives of talks on this topic. We incorporated a call to action for engagement and accountability, along with multimedia integration and annual updates to reflect the organization’s current summit. Engaging visual elements like illustrations and color blocks were used to offset the heavy amount of information, making the report accessible and visually appealing.
